Abike Dabiri-Erewa commends DOWA, diaspora youth NGO for impacting lives

…NiDCOM Boss assures DOWA maximum support

 

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has commended a diaspora youth NGO, Doing Good Work in Africa (DOWA), for supporting students and impacting future growth in Africa.

 

The commendation is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Head of Media and Public Relations of NIDCOM marking the first year of the group.

 

Dabiri-Erewa described the thoughtful gesture of DOWA as timely and a critical tool for development of Africa as a whole.

In her words “Brain gain is a necessity for the development of Africa. This type of effort will go a long way in making tremendous impacts in the development of our youths in the diaspora”.

 

“For placing 27 students on internships and conducting several educational webinars with over 400 attendees from over 17 countries within a year of its establishment, your efforts is hereby applauded.” She added.

 

The NiDCOM boss implored the coordinator of DOWA Mrs Ola Erogbogbo to sustain the good work while assuring them that the Commission will continue to support them from time to time.

 

Doing Good Work in Africa (DOWA), is a non-profit initiative designed to connect students in the United States to African-based entities focused on providing scalable solutions to commonplace challenges.

 

It was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic by Ola Erogbogbo and Emiola Abass, along with a few friends ,who co-founded a program that generated 400 applications and placed 10 students at three partner companies within two months.
