The Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) has assured electricity consumers within its network of safety and reliable supply.
Mr Adeoye Fadeyibi, the Chief Execultive Officer, of the company gave the assurance during the signing of workers conditions of service with the National Union not Electricity Employees (NUEE) and Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) in Lagos.
The Managing Director lauded the unions support towards ensuring smooth draft of workers’ conditions of service in the without rancour.
He said the official signing of the documents was a great success to the company and power sector in general, urged workers to reflect that in ensuring effective services delivery to consumers
According to him, today marks another turning point in the company. It is a good day because the issue had lingered for years now.
“I am celebrating today, because both the management and the unions are agreeing on mutual understanding for the betterment of the company and workers. This, would foster better understanding and mutual working relationship between the workers and management,” he said.
Fadeyibi said: both leaders had agreed to signed for the development and growth of the organization geared towards improved power supply in the network.
He reiterated the management’s support to the growth and improvement of workers welfarism in the organization.
The EkEDC’s CEO said that activities within operations of the company’s has increased, adding that everybody should be committed to the job in ensuring better services to the teaming consumers.
He added that the company had improved on its effective customers’ services delivery to the consumers which in turn had boosted consumers’ confidence and revenue.
He therefore urged workers to put in their best in ensuring services for humanity and effective service delivery to electricity consumers to retain its position as the number one distribution company in Nigeria.
The union and management started dialoguing on the agreement since 2014.
Mr Joe Ajaero, General Secretary, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) said that the agreement was long overdue as there would not be performance without incentives
He advised EKEDC management not to pay attention to machine alone but equally motivate workers to develop the organisation.
“There is a written code now. It marks the beginning of the job. Handle all the issues well for things to work well,” Ajaero said.
Also, Mr Adetunji Adeniran, Deputy President of SSAEAC appealed to the management to forgive workers who had committed any offence before the agreement.
He said that it was good to maintain harmony as it took some years to reach the agreement without picketing the organization.
