How Rev Sis Alokha rescued hundreds of students, but lost her life

Nigerians were shocked when they heard the news of explosion at Abule Ado, Lagos State, which claimed the life of Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha, the Principal of Bethlehem High School, Abule Ado, Lagos.

Investigations by DODONDAWA.COM revealed that the late Principal struggled to rescue her students during the explosion, however, the roof later fell on her in the process and she died.

The school buildings were seriously damaged, so also many houses around the area.

According to a statement by Catholic Diocese of Lagos, signed by Bro Vincent Iwueze, Worthy Secretary, Catholic Diocese, Lagos, “We have just received the news of the demise of Rev. Sr Henrietta Alokha, Principal of Bethlehem High School Abule Ado involved in the petrol pipeline explosion that occurred earlier today. Late Rev. Sr Henrietta Alokha is the younger sister of Our Worthy Advocate WB Anslem Alokha.

“Late Rev. Sr. Henrietta Alokha rescued all the children under her care from the pipeline fire and could not make it herself.May her soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God Rest In Peace, Amen.”

Meanwhile, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Kennie Obateru, stated in a press release on Sunday that, the explosion was as a result of gas  explosion which occurred after a truck hit some gas cylinders stacked in a gas processing plant located near the corporation’s system 2B Pipeline Right of Way.

Dr.Obateru said that preliminary findings indicated that the impact of the explosion was so huge that it led to the collapse of nearby houses and damage to NNPC pipeline on which efforts are being made to curtail the resultant fire.

The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari and other top Management of the corporation departed to Lagos this evening for an on-the-spot assessment at the scene of the incident.

Obateru stated that following the report of the explosion, the corporation quickly halted ongoing pumping operations on the Atlas Cove-Mosimi pipeline which was active at the time.
