A middle-aged male kidnapper identified as SHAKIRU FAMUYIWA was caught in an attempt to abscond with two children during ‘Good Friday Service’ at the Celestial Church of Christ Ibara Parish in Abeokuta Ogun State on Friday 15th, 2022.

The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by policemen Ibara Divisional Headquarter that while the said church was holding ‘Good Friday Service’, SHAKIRU FAMUYIWA joined the service as a worshipper but to their dismay, an alarm was raised at the gate in an attempt to abscond with two children.

Upon the distress call, DPO Ibara Division, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele immediately mobilized his men and moved to the scene where the suspect was rescued from an angry mob who were about to lynch him.

The State PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed to newsmen said the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to an anti-kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

Speaking further, he said CP Lanre Bankole also ordered that the accomplice must be hunted for and bought to book.

This happened yesterday at our church Celestial Church of Christ Ibara Parish. The man has been parading our church premises since Thursday according to those that noticed him. Our church is a big church even visitors do come to worship anytime.
Two weeks ago the Shepherd made an announcement that we should be vigilant and be watchful of new faces and also a committee was created in different areas of the church to question strange faces unknown to this man.

Yesterday which was Good Friday he came to church and even joined us in the service…then he held the hands of two children of the same parent and was heading towards the gate. He was stopped at the gate for questions like Where are you going with these children? Meanwhile, the committee knows the children in the church…and he responded that their father was outside the gate and he asked him to bring the children.

They told him to wait while one of them went inside the church to look for the parent and Luckily they found the father in the Mercyland praying…they called him out and took him to the gate …so it was clear to them that the man wanted to kidnap the children he was seriously beaten as seen in the video and presently at Eleweran Police Station…This is not a rumor ooo. It is happening pls let’s be security conscious….May God continue to protect our children and us from all evil hands.
